Cancers Caused by Cigarette Smoking and Tobacco Use

Lung cancer is most frequently associated with smoking and tobacco usage, but many types of cancer have been caused by or linked to smoking.  Among these are:

• Cancers of the oral cavity, oesophagus and larynx
• Cancer of the bladder
• Cancer of the kidney
• Cancer of the pancreas (pancreatic cancer)
• Cancer of the stomach
• Cancers of the uterine cervix and vulvar
• Cancer of the penis
• Cancer of the anus
• Cancers of the blood (leukaemia and multiple myeloma)
• Cancer of the liver
• Bronchioloalveolar carcinoma

Cigarette smoke contains many cancer causing subtsances called carcinogens.
